Tughlakabad fort : In 1320s Ghyasuddin Tughlak a Turk governor who had his strong hold in the western provinces invaded Delhi.Tughlakabad is an elevated station on the  violet  line of the Delhi Metro.  It is located between Mohan estate and Badarpur stations.  In 1320, Khilji rule was usurped by Khusro Shah in bloody coup.Owing to the resistance of the military governor of Multan same year Ghyasuddin Tughlak Shah I became the sultan of Delhi.  Tughlak Shah established his own township.  Ghyasuddin came to power by beheading Khurso Khan,who has also snatched power in a bloody coup.

Mohammad Bin Tughlak ruled for seven years, then shifted capital to Daulatabad, Devgiri in Aurangabad district of Deccan.  Due to scarcity of water in Daulatabad and suffering by the people, the capital was shifted back to Delhi in 1334.  He built a new township named  Jahapanah which is between Mehrauli and Siri.  Jahapanah means " World's Asylum" altogether a new city.  He did not go back toya Tughlakabad and was conviced that it was a cursed city.  It was beieved that saint Sheik Nizamuddin Auliya given a curse when Ghyasuddin did not allow to make a Baoli.  Ghyasuddin died in a accident.


In construction of several buildings Tughlaks developed their own style of architecture.  Buildings: Tughlakabad fort,  Bijai Mandal between kalu sarai  and Beganpur village.  Khirkee mosque, Chirag-i-Dilli's Dargah situated on Malviya Nagar-Kalkaji  Road at village Chirag.
